The name Monkstadt is derived from the Sylvin language, as Monkstadt was founded by Alcelatus Kinchen, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Monkstadt has a yearly average temperature of 20°C (68°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 13°C (55°F). Monkstadt receives an average of 159 cm/y (62 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Monkstadt covers an area of nearly 3 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 2014 m (6607 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Monkstadt was founded durring the late 17th century in early spring of the year 1571, by Alcelatus Kinchen. The establishment of Monkstadt suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.
Monkstadt was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 17th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Monkstadt is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature stone brick construction with most buildings posessing towers, turrets, dormers, and wide wrap-around porches. An extreem emphasis on decorative features and emblishments can be seen even on the poorest of homes and makes even the most humble of structures seem a bit regal.
Monkstadt is buildings are arranged arrounded highly ordered system of narrow paverstone streets which form octogonal paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks and fences to provide minimal protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The town's somewhat suffishent are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.
Before you’ve even set foot into the heart of Monkstadt, you can smell it. The incense. It hangs about the town like a cloud. Monks, priests, and clerics are everywhere, all dedicated to the same god, all preforming the same rituals to bless and anoint building,s streets, people, animals, you name it they are or have blessed it. The same holysymbols is everywhere too. Its on buildings, on people, and even branded into livestock. This town certainly loves its god.
Civic Infrastructure
Monkstadt has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Monkstadt.
Monkstadt has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Monkstadt has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Monkstadt has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Monkstadt's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Monkstadt has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.
Monkstadt has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Cultural Notes
Monkstadt's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.
Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is short in Monkstadt.
The Snake, Viper near Monkstadt are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.
Monkstadt's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves destroying a prepared ritual vessel to channel Mysticism energies of tier 1 via oath swearing.
